Wednesday Linkies
Since our plan is to have most news being posted in individual posts, we are going to try posting the daily linkies in their own post. Leave us feedback on what you think, as well as a link to your recent blog post!

I would like to subscribe by email, but do not see where to do so. Can you help me please?
Thanks!
dianabuja.
Would subscribe to RSS feed up in the right corner the orange circle be what you are looking for?
We love the new look. We’d still like to see a “news and announcements” tab on the main page and a link to the auction (if any). Thanks for the work you’ve done on moving the CB forward.
It looks pawsome. Well done everyone.
We sort of agree with Sweet Purrfections to have a short, clean list of major news. Otherwise you have to click on all the Mr Linky’s and that could be time consuming.
Otherwise, looking good and moving forward.
Beautiful new design, Glogirly.
Hi Little Isis! We just wanted to let you and Mo know that the site is still showing up funny on the mom’s iPad. We wonder if you are still having the problem too.
I would love to see all the news in one place. Otherwise, you’d have to go back and forth between pages and that could get rather time and effort consuming.
Also, as a person with a severe vision impairment, the magazine style template is harder to follow for me, so having all the news in one post would definitely help me out. I don’t use a screen reader, but I’d be curious to see how this site works with one.
Just some thoughts…
just testing to see if my comment publishes
Looks like it went through without getting in the ‘to be approved’ cache!
Maybe we are the minority, but we like the individual news stories. One of the things we didn’t care for in the old set up was having to scroll through all the news everyday to get to the daily links. There was often outdated news that seemed to be posted everyday for too long and this made the amount of news each day just too much. To the eye it was overwhelming and we tended to just fly past it.
Maybe a compromise would be a good thing here. How about continuing with individual news stories based on the Managing Editor’s discretion (need, importance, graphics, copy etc…) but creating a “bulletin board” sort of page that can stand on it’s own for more of a news reel. The bulletin board news cold contain all of the weeks news for example. If the layout was kept simple with each entry bulleted/numbered and maybe few or even no graphics, it would be very easy to read quickly.
: ) Glogirly & Katie
That sounds like it could work – especially with screen readers and such. To me, having such low vision, it is more difficult to follow the new style of layout, but if there were a page I could go to to view the news everyday in one place, that would make it much easier and less frustrating for me (and other low vision or blind people I’m sure, too). I should ask one of my completely blind friends how this page works with JAWS (screen reader) because they may be looking at this page too. I’d hate for anyone to miss out because it doesn’t work with such programs, ya know?
I like the bulletin board idea, though. Good thinking, Glogirly!
I really like the bulletin board idea, too. I know the new look is cleaner, but it would be nice to have the news posted on one page for an appropriate length of time without having to go back and forth between individual news stories. The key is to have someone (or many someones) to keep up with the news and remove outdated news and keep everything else updated. I know I get my news on FB, too, but there are so many bloggers that aren’t on FB.
This is the first time I’ve read about the managing editor’s “discretion” in what news is posted. I honestly don’t want to start any disagreements here, but the CB has also supported everyone and posted any news (unless it’s offensive, illegal, or unethical” about the cats. I’d hate to see us lose that community feeling and go to a “magazine” format where you have to be approved.
Thanks for all of the ideas so far.
Hi Sweet Purrfections, thanks for your feedback.
The bulletin board news post was rolled out last Sunday, and is available quickly via the “News Roundup” tab located above the CB header at the very top of the page.
As for the ‘discretion’ that’s basically to cover those submissions that may be offensive, illegal, or unethical. So far, nothing that has been submitted to the CB in a news format has been rejected since we have taken the reins of the CB.
