Spay Day – February 23
Every year about 6 – 8 million animals are brought into US shelters. Sadly, half of them end up being put down. To save these animals, the HSUS organizes the official Spay day on the last Tuesday of every February. Feel free to contact your local humane society for any Spay Day events. You can help spread the word. ~Amy

Yesterday morning, 2/22/2010, Tuxedo, who was one of Homeless Cat Care’s original feral cat friends, was hit by a car and went to the Bridge. He will be very missed. ~Debra

Leigh-Ann, of Wee Paws Animal Sanctuary in Las Vegas, wants to buy the house she’s been leasing for Wee Paws for the past 10 years. The house is now up for sale and if someone else buys it, she might be forced to move and/or shut down her sanctuary.  Leigh-Ann is looking for advice in securing financing for the house, or for an investor who will buy the house but allow Wee Paws to stay.  Leigh-Ann can make regular rent/mortgage payments, she just wants some security for the cats!  If Leigh-Ann can figure out how to buy the house she’ll turn ownership of it over to Wee Paws so it will always belong to the cats, AND she’ll more than double her permanent capacity (cat-pacity) from 24 cats to 50!  Read more about it at the Wee Paws website!
