Hi catbloggers,
this is Othello, offishual Catministrative of Weekend Cat Blogging, speaking:
Since it is the end of the year soon , I was wondering about some things ’bout Weekend Cat Blogging and therefore need your opinion.
I have noticed over the past year that less and less of you catbloggers have been pawticiptaing in WCB anyway and less of you cats were willing to host too.
Please give me your opinion:
- Is this event no longer attractive to you?
- Is there anything that should be changed to make it more attractive?
- Should we continue in planning WCB?
- Should we just stop it?
You know Momma and I still have fun organizing the WCB here for you but it makes no sense to put energy in things you do not want it anymore.
You can leave your opinion here in the comments or mail it to wcbschedule AT gmail.com – any opinions are welcome.
We will be open for any discussion and then decide whether I will look for hosts for 2010 or WCB will not be held anymore.
love and purrs,
Othello
P.S. Thanks to any of you for participating in the past be it as host or participant. We love you all!

Well I’m still prettys new to the blogging world just been around for a while and I’m not really sure what weekend cat blogging is or how it is to be done.

We continue to enjoy participating and hosting. It is one of the “anchors” for our week – since we do more than just cat blogging, it’s something to help structure our week, i.e., “Saturday is for Luna and other not-necessarily-musical cats.”
I am guessing “weekend cat blogging” may not be as significant for those who do cat blogging every day, perhaps that is why participation has declined. But we would like to keep it going.

I’m new to this blogging thing, too. I have no idea what a WCB is or anything, but I would love to join your community!

We will be honest, we haven’t ever participated in Weekend Cat Blogging because we don’t quite understand what it is, since we haven’t been around as long as some of the other cat blogs have (ok, we existed as a blog but didn’t find the cat blogsphere til much later). If there is somewhere that explains it that could help us out a lot.

I enjoy hosting and would like to see it continue. I’m up for hosting next year. Carnival of the Cats also has seen a decline and I was wondering the same thing about it. People seem to use the autolinkies thing here more. Less effort involved but doesn’t get the nice write ups about each post.

We are still checking our schedule for any hosting duties that we can do. I am wondering if there are just too many choices in terms of the carnivals? We often submit the same post to both carnivals but hate to do that so it does take time to try and think up–did I do TWO good posts that are worth sharing this week? So we are often random about which carnival we submit to. Perhaps you and Mog can get together and maybe see about keeping one carnival rather than both?

Thanks to all of you for your opinion. We treasure it lots and we appreciate those voices who’d like to continue and even offered to host
as some of you new bloggers asked what WCB actually is here is some information about the history tg KC wrote when the catblogosphere took over the organization of WCB:
About WCB
Weekend Cat Blogging Roundup wuz started by a Clare at Eatstuff.net so the weekend cat bloggin wuz a speshul fing an not a dailee fing. Clare is no longer postin to her bloggy, but Sarah and Tiggy and ofurs kept it goin. Lotsa WCB folkses are peeple who just blog bout their kitties they luvs on the weekends. But we cats haf started joinin in too and they’s maded us furry welcome.
ANY cat post speshully wif pikshurs can be in WCB.
Here’s an exampul:
If I wuz KC and wanted to do it and put in my Formerly Feral Furriday post that KC posted tooday, heere’s what I’d put in the comments:
Pleeze add me to WCB.
I’s hafin a grate time nappin in my box.
My linky is http://missyblueeyes.blogspot.com/2007/01/former-feral-friday.html
Or efun just ask to be added is ok.
It’s furry nice to linky back to the WCB hostin site of the week, and it’s lots and lots appresheeated (speshully cuz it helps folks see all the WCB posts) but yoo don’t gots to advertize. Please also linky to the Weekend Cat Blogging skedule page too, so’s peeple n cats can find their way.
****
As she said it was mainly an event started by Foodbloggers and some other bloggers like Amar and Luna and slowly merged into the catblogger community.
Originally people who blog about other thign during the week blogged about their cats on the weekend (Friday,Saturday or Sunday) and shared their link with the host of the week by leaving their link in the comments at the hosts blog (linking back to the host). The host would write up some nice words about each entry and post it.
This is where I – Momma Astrid – coem from: the boys did not have a blog of their own. I startef to blog about them on my foodblog for weekend cat blogging and when I found the catblogosphere years later the boys got their own blog.
hope that helps a bit

Simplify please for us newbies. Walk us through. Never even read it!
December 4th, 2009 at 7:11 pm
well, try to read it and you will understand. it’s not too difficult to understand anyway.

What we would suggest is have weekend cat blogging be a once a month or once every other week. And also a better easily seen explanation of what weekend cat blogging is..we don’t think from the description we most recently saw, a few months ago, that it was immediately clear that WCB is just a showcase of cat blogs.
But thanks for all your work with it, WCB is very fun!
December 5th, 2009 at 7:23 pm
I look forward each weekend to WCB. I’ve never volunteered to host but I’d be willing to do this.
December 5th, 2009 at 8:59 pm
I enjoy it and I would love to be added on as a host. Maybe if you took all of the people who just stated that they would be willing to host, and made a new schedule, that would bring it to the attention of other bloggers. It seems like from these comments alone you would have about 10 hosts.
December 6th, 2009 at 1:04 am
So if you host WCB do you just do your own cat blog post and have like a Mr.Linky at the bottom or is your post just a post of links to other peoples cat posts?
