Kali takes flight
Posted by Sophia under In Memoriam
- For years
- I remained
- Hidden from view
- Afraid to show myself
- or my true colors.
- Cloaked
- Concealed
- I endured.
- Waiting for the spring
- with the sunlight
- the signal to emerge.
- Slowly
- Cautiously
- I begin to unfold my wings,
- finding the courage
- discovering my strength.
- In awe
- I marvel at the array
- Deepest sapphire blue
- Renewing amethyst violet
- Tranquil aquamarine
- Iridescent blushing rose
- Sparkling
- Radiant
- I take flight.

That is a beautiful tribute for a very sweet, special kitty. Our prayers and thoughts are with her family today. It was a very hard decision to have to make.

It means so much to me to click on the Cat Blogosphere and be greeted with my baby’s sweet picture. To others it’s a photo of a cat, to me it’s my companion of almost all my working years in this city. She hissed at the other cats. She even bit my sister once because my sister didn’t understand that when she said don’t touch me on the back, she meant it. An old unkind vet complained about her. Yet to me she showed love. Okay so there was the time a neighbor’s cat came up onto our porch and peered into our window. I stupidly picked her up when she was having a fit and she bit me, hard. It wasn’t me she later explained, but the other cat she wanted to bite. She had become confused she said with almost an apology. Kali loved me. She was a bottle fed baby. Unfortunately I hadn’t met her yet, someone else gave her those bottles, but she loved to be held. If I was sitting down she wanted to be on me. Until her later years when that became too painful yet she still wanted to be near me. When she was younger she would love for me to pick her up and hold her to my chest. She would grasp her front paws and try to hold onto me even when I moved to put her down. She purred for me alone. She loved me and I love her. Okay she would occasionally lick a brother cat on the foerhead or give a headbump. But usually she saved her affection for me. It was my voice that calmed her when she was in a raging mood.
I miss that baby of mine. So to open up this page and to see her face when I wasn’t expecting it, means a lot to me. So please give your babies some scritches right where they desire it the most and let them know how important they are.
