Emergency Contact List
Posted by Sanjee under blogging cat noos
While waiting for news about MomLaura and Lilly Lu, Mu Shue, and Iris last weekend, several of us talked about coming up with an Emergency Contact database for CatBlogosphere folks who wish to participate. Ideas include the following:
~~People/pets who wish to participate could fill out an online form, including names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, local emergency numbers (sheriff, constable, police, animal control, etc.). ~~Only about ten people (or fewer) would have access to this information to be used in emergencies only — chosen by the board members of Cat Friends Helping Friends.
~~This information would be used only if and when an obvious emergency arises, such as what Laura endured this past weekend. If you’d be interested in joining such an Emergency Contact system, whether you wish to volunteer to help put it together, maintain it, and/or provide information about yourself and your pets in case it’s ever needed, please let us know in the comments. If you have suggestions about what to include in the database, let us know that, too.

I am interested in taking part. I don’t think my Investor has time to help maintain the list, though. We always would like to help, though, when possible.

I will volunteer mom to help compile and keep the list. She’s already got a LOT of emails, a few phone numbers and addresses, so she already has a start anyway. And, we will add our info to whoever does this. It’s an excellent idea!

I think that the database should include a photo of each cat, and the medications that they require so that in case something happens to their bean, they can be properly taken care of. The reason for the photo is that many of us have more than 1 cat, and the rescuers need a way to tell which cat is which. Descriptions aren’t always adequate.

Everyone, Thanks for the offers of help and kind words. The database is taken care of, and the rest will get sorted bit by bit. We’ll keep a list of everyone’s offers and suggestions!
Beau, Thanks, but we need to only get the information from people who send in their own so we can be sure to only have and share the information with people the individuals are comfortable with us sharing it with.
Forty Paws, Wow, that’s one heck of a good idea, and a lot of work. hehehe Maybe we can add something like that in too! Maybe folks who want to participate in that could make an “id page” on their blog with cat names and photos and give us the link to it. Then they could update it on their own blog any time. As far as I know the cat names and photos aren’t confidential so that would probably work.
