Miss Peach wrote: SADDEST NEWS EVER!!!!
I just heard that Petey is going to the rainbow bridge this morning!!!!
This is what his mommy wrote to a group we are both in:
Petey is having a terrible, terrible night. He’s not eating. He can’t get comfortable. He’s hiding. And when I look in his eyes, I see that the fight is gone. He’s ready for the last leg of the journey. And I’m ready to help him take that last step enveloped in love. It’s the last gift I can give this little cat, who has been my joy for the past 6 years.
Thank you for supporting us through the many peaks and valleys of this journey. Send lots of love our way in the morning. And remember Petey as the pure, exuberant spirit he’s always been — like the kitten in the big cat’s body.
Miss Peach and I are so heartbroken to hear this. Please everycat out there, PLEASE go to leave your love for Gayle to find… she will need it to see her through this.

Would lobbying your politicians, international animal welfare charities and Olympic linked organisations be a start in campaigning to help the poor cats in China?
March 12th, 2008 at 9:02 am
That’s a grate idea, Jane! How would a cat start doin that???
March 12th, 2008 at 9:58 am
Well Sanjee, off the top of my head here are 3 ways a cat might start helping the cats in China.
A cat might want to have a look at the ASPCA Lobby for Animals page here:
http://www.aspca.org/site/PageServer?pagename=lobby_home
-where cats can find their local legislator and state government sites. Cats could send an email to their Senator highlighting the plight of the cats in China.
In the UK, the RSPCA has an international section with an associate programme that might have links in China, if it doesn’t now is the time it ought to.
RSPCA here:
http://www.rspca.org.uk/servlet/Satellite?pagename=RSPCA/RSPCARedirect&pg=international
Cats could also ask questions of the International Olympic Committee concerning the cats in China here:
http://www.olympic.org/uk/utilities/registration_uk.asp?prm_action=req
Then there’s always the letters page of local newspapers to write to. It’s all good to get the issue out and known. What starts at a local level will grow as more are aware!
Do other cats have ideas about how to help?
March 12th, 2008 at 2:22 pm
Wow, Jane haf a lot of good ideas.
Pleeze, Jane, look at what i’s just posted about the $5 bounty in Iowa fur turning in “stray” cats to be euthanized. i’s ready to gather up all mine “yellow dot” fury and go gets ‘em.
Jane, do you haf a blog where you can get these grrreat ideas together fur us?

KC,
We just found this website (http://www.randolph-iowa.com/) - it isn’t an official city page, but it has contact information for the mayor’s office. Maybe all the kitties could email or write letters!

this is from tha artickle… haf tha mayor’s name:
Mayor Vance Trively said Randolph has dozens of feral cats — and the population keeps growing… The mayor said several suggestions have been made, including neutering. But Trively says they’d just end up in the same boat.
so in tha mayor’s mind — or what passes for a mind — neutering doesn’t work???????

Apparently kids are catching dogs and cats, collars and tags or not, and getting the $5 reward for each one they bring in.
