Thursday November 8 — everyone is invited to take part in Astro Kitty Day all ’round the Cat Blogsophere.

The U.S. space shuttle — Discovery, STS 120 — is on a 15-day mission in space at the International Space Station.  It launched on Tuesday Oct 23 and is due to land (weather permitting) at Kennedy Space Center (right near the Zoolatry home) on Wednesday November 7 at about 1:02 PM ET. 

On Thursday November 8, we are suggesting you welcome them all home, congratulations being offered for a successful mission.
 
Attached is the official emblem for Discovery, STS 120.  You are free to include this in your post if you wish.
 
One note of interest: Pam Melroy is Commander of this mission; only the 2nd woman ever to command a space shuttle — and perhaps, with the shuttle program winding down, she may be the last.  Her nickname is "Pambo" and she gave the shuttle crew similar nicknames: Zambo, Longbow, RoboChick, Flambo, Rocky (they couldn’t work this out!)… and Bo-Ichi. So, if you’re participating you may want to come up with an appropriate name for your Astro Kitty.
