I just went to the Hill's website and read that the M/D food is their only product that contains wheat gluten at all. It is listed clearly on the ingredients list for that food as wheat gluten. Wheat gluten is not listed on the ingredient list for our food.

The M/D food is for weight control, so it makes sense that they use extra fiber ingredients for that food. I feel much better about my food now. I hope that everything will settle down now and all the cats foods will be safe soon.

Thank you for the important information, Dragonheart. I'm so glad that we have this information available to us through the Cat Blogosphere. We are not so great at following the news on our own.

We do eat Prescription food, but it is the Z/D kind. We'll have Tracy ask at our vet's for a recommendation.

I was doing some looking around today. I think I may switch my monsters to Acana or Orijen which are both made by Champion Petfoods Ltd, a company based in Alberta near me, which guarantees all products their products are made and packed by them.

http://www.championpetfoods.com/

The Orijen has no grain products at all, the Acana does use rice and/or oatmeal, and specifically says 'good for struvite reduction'

They sell in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Ontario, New Brunswick and British Colombia in Canada, adn Florida, Oregon, Washington and Georgia, in the US. Worth a look for any of you in that area.

I can't recommend either, mind you. I haven't tried them. But they do look better than most of the crap out there.
