We missed most of this but my Mom has read a lot of the posts. We both thought the contest was funny, that even the silliness wasn't meant to be mean and that there's no reason for anyone to stop blogging over what happened. If anyone wants to take a break, though, we'll miss you and look forward to your return.

My blog is so new that not very many kitties visit or leave comments yet. Sometimes I think about stopping but then Mom reminds me that I read a lot of other kitties' blogs but don't have time to comment on every one of them.

I'll continue to read as many of your blogs as I can every day even though I'll probably still not comment as often as I should. And none of us has to read anything we don't want to!

I hope no one really leaves for good over this! I don't even understand! Some of the ballot stuffing seemed a bit silly and occasionally lacking in imagination, but it didn't seem intentionally mean or anything to me!

Having had things like this happen on e-mail lists I was on, I guess I just eventually developed a viewpoint that suggests 'Never ascribe to maliciousnes what can be ascribed to ignorance (or silliness, or a joke gone wrong, or misunderstanding due to the lack of body language accompanying the message, or, well, a squillion (I LOVE that word!) different reasons that don't involve meanness).

Marina said in her apology that she could hear her mother saying "The road to Hell is paved with good intentions". That may be true, but the person whose good intentions (or even innocuous ones) misled them is not a bad person because of it. Someone who deliberately does wrong is evil, someone who does something wrong without bad intentions is just someone who made a mistake. And who among us hasn't?

If you think you made a mistake, and want to leave in shame or a sense of not deserving to be here, please don't. If someone else is truly so angry or hurt they don't want to associate with you, they can choose to just not associate with you (and that's ok too), but please don't feel as though you have to go. You don't.

And we'd miss you.

We also agree with Zippy, Sadie and Speedy: we thought the ballot-stuffing was simply hilarious, creative fun. Here's something to consider ... I wonder if human stage moms get into squabbles over bean beauty contests? If so, then Zeus' contest truly was an accurate satire of the pageant world!

We think a diplomatic solution would be to create a special meme for today, "Forgive & Forget Friday" and for all blogging kitties & beans to post 10 ways the Cat Blogosphere has changed their lives for the better! Let's all fill the CB with positive thoughts so that no blogging kitty or bean will ever think of leaving such a nice place!
