Cat Blogosphere

Cindy just emailed that Georgie, her orange kitty, has escaped from the house during her vacation. The link is to the lost and found listing for him, with photos and contact information. Please, everyone, send out some of your best purrs and purrayers that George tires of roaming around and comes back home. He has been spotted near the house, he just won’t come home.

Thanks for all the kind emails and comments about Felix.  He spent the day at VRCC in Richmond yesterday.  We still are not 100% certain of his ailment.  He has been under a specialists care for over 6 months.  They want to try a different medication.  Please continue to keep my little man in your thoughts and prayers.  We will keep everyone update on our blog – www.whiskersandpurrs.com   Thanks again! Rocky’s mom wrote: Laura and the twins are doing  great! Their names are Ashlynn (sp?) and Dylan (sp?). Ashlynn weighed 5 lbs 6 ounces; Dylan weighed 7 pounds. Mama and babies get to come home from the hospital Monday, and Laura will be sharing pictures with the CB. The news isn’t so good about Mu Shue. He’s at the vet at Tufts, dehydrated again. They’re not sure he can get better and gave Laura the choice to help him to the Bridge or give him one last chance. The problem is his heart problem is working against his kidneys and his kidneys are working against treating the lymphoma. Laura has decided on one last chance - one more month on his lymphoma treatment if they can keep him comfortable. If not, she says she’ll know "He has just too many problems to keep him safe and sound and happy." We’re so thankful that Laura and the twins are fine, but our friend Mu Shue needs our most comforting purrs & purrayers.

Moki had his first physical therapy/water therapy appointment yesterday, and we have lots of pictures to share with you. He was just too cute in his little tiny orange life vest. Today we will have the remainder of the photos from his first therapy session. Regards, Crystal

Skeeter is 16 years old today… and his health is not the best. Stop by and leaf him some purrs!

It’s also Mycah’s Lucky 13 Purrthday today!  She’s getting toona on her plate tonight!

Sunny is ten years old today… effurryone, go wish hims a Happy Purrthday… we’s gotted lotsa 4th of July birthdays.

Wow, Ariel is six years old today with a wonderful, wonderful gift. What is it? Let’s just say con-CAT-ulashuns are in order. Purrs. 

And our good furriends Kimo and Sabi are four years old today. That was some HT par-tay the other day, too.

Yesserday was Midnight & Cocoa’s Gotcha Day.  Grr’s Gotcha Day is Saturday. The Lady has some old photos — of the adorable baby Midnight & Cocoa — and the story up for all of us to enjoy. And Max is perking up as well.

Today is Twins Day for Mom Laura!  Stop by and leaf her a msg if you want!

Suggestions from HSUS on other ways to pay for veterinary care.

• Ask your veterinarian to submit an assistance request to the American Animal Hospital Association’s (AAHA) "Helping Pets Fund." In order to qualify, your animal hospital must be AAHA accredited. To learn more about the program visit the AAHA web site. To find an AAHA accredited hospital in your area, search online at www.Pets911.com.

• Contact your local shelter. Some shelters operate or know of local subsidized veterinary clinics or veterinary assistance programs. You can find the name and number of your local shelter in the Yellow Pages of your phone book under "animal shelter," "animal control" or "humane society," or by calling Information. You can also go to www.Pets911.com and enter your zip code to find a list of animal shelters, animal control agencies, and other animal care organizations in your community.

• If you purchased your pet from a reputable breeder, check your contract to see if there is a health guarantee that covers your pet’s ailment.

• Check with veterinary schools in your state to see if they offer discount services to the public. You can find a list of veterinary schools in the Education section of the American Veterinary Medical Association’s (AVMA) website, www.avma.org.

• Use your credit card. Ask for a higher credit limit or a cash advance.

• Call your bank. Ask about loan programs or other options they can suggest that might be helpful in your situation.

• Ask your employer for a salary advance.

• Alert family and friends and ask them each for a $25 loan.

• Consider taking on a part-time job or temping.

Miss Peach wrote: My beloved Meezer friend Junior is sick at the vet!!  His mommy wrote: "The doctor thinks he may have irritable bowel syndrom. I DID NOT WANT TO LEAVE MY BOY THERE! Even knowing that all the tests came back with good results, and the doctor thinking it is IBS, I just didn’t want to leave him…but I know he needs a bit of help. I cried telling him good night, and telling him to be good, and to eat tomorrow. I cried on my drive home, and have been fighting back tears since I have been home. I am glad Orion is here, but he isn’t my Junior and I really want him back to his old self. So, I am going to ask for some amped up purrs for him please. I really want my boy to eat, poop if he needs to, and to come back home. Thank you. Miss Peach, "Lets power purrray him back home right now!"

Mama Laura will have a C-section on July 4th! Yay. And Mu shue and Lilly got tests and new meds from Tufts. Go give tha whole fambly lots of purrs!
